どん底から、ファッションに救われた話

How fashion saved me from rock bottom

I'm Shuichi, Director of NOA DAVICH.
This time I would like to talk about how fashion saved me from rock bottom.
It may get a little dark in the middle, but there is a silver lining, so I would be happy if you read to the end.

At university, I majored in architecture and design, but I didn't feel it was suited to me, and I didn't particularly want to work for a large company, so I dropped out after four years of study.

I then took a job in sales, but because I was highly ambitious and brimming with unfounded confidence, I was searching for a job where I would be evaluated on ability rather than seniority, and in an environment where I could voice my opinions.

I knew that if I were to start something on my own in the future, I would need sales skills, so I looked for job openings in sales, and even during interviews I would say cheeky things like, "Please assign this to the person who is best able."
Thinking about it now, it was a scary one...lol

After that, I continued to get rejected by several companies until I found one.
The staff there were all energetic and everyone was trying to become independent, and the company was very supportive. I ran around from morning till night selling there, and then I moved to Tokyo to work at the head office, but I gave up there.

As expected, there is always someone better.

I was overwhelmed by the performance of others, my team's performance dropped, members quit, and my performance dropped too. It was a completely commission-based system, so I didn't get paid unless I produced results. My mood was getting worse and worse, it was getting harder to meet people, my work was getting harder, and I had no money to live on, so I borrowed money to cover my living expenses.

I continued working, thinking that I could pull myself back up, but during my commute I found myself wondering if I would find my life easier if I jumped in front of the train platform. I realized that I would break down if I continued like this, so I decided to quit the company I had been working for for two years.

When I returned to my hometown, I wanted a job that didn't involve interacting with people, so I decided to work for a forestry company.
As I worked in nature, I gradually began to regain my sense of self, but I still lacked confidence and felt a sense of dissatisfaction as if things were not going well within me.
At that time, I came across a certain phrase.

Appearance is the outside of the contents

When I came across this quote on the internet, I decided to start by changing my appearance to change the things that weren't going well for me, and I began to pay more attention to my hairstyle and clothing.
Once I started paying attention to fashion, I started receiving more compliments from those around me, I became more confident, and I began to see results at work.

I will continue to cherish the experience of fashion helping me improve myself.
